Meet Dr. McCain

Three decades of helping Baton Rouge kids and families thrive.

Dr. Alyson P. McCain has been part of the Baton Rouge child mental health community since 1995. After earning her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from LSU — with a specialty in Child Clinical Psychology — and completing an APA-approved internship at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, she has dedicated her career to children, adolescents, and the families who love them.

Her work has spanned pediatric hospitals, children's mental health programs, school consultation, and family-court services — bringing the same combination of clinical rigor and genuine compassion to every child and family who walks through her door.

Our Approach

Clinical expertise. Real-world understanding.

Dr. McCain blends decades of evidence-based training with a warm, family-first sensibility — meeting each person exactly where they are.

  • 1
We start with listening. The first appointment is about understanding your story, your goals, and what has and hasn't worked.
  • 2
We use what's proven. Treatment is grounded in established, research-backed approaches — tailored to fit your child or your own life.
  • 3
Families are part of the work. When kids and teens are involved, parents are partners. You'll get tools, not just summaries.
  • 4
Care that lasts. Many of Dr. McCain's families return across years — for new questions, new ages, or simply a check-in.
