Dr. Alyson P. McCain, Ph.D. — clinical psychologist in Baton Rouge
Her Story

A career rooted in Baton Rouge.

Dr. Alyson P. McCain has practiced psychology in Baton Rouge since 1995. After completing her doctorate in clinical psychology at Louisiana State University and a year-long APA-approved internship at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, she returned home to Louisiana — and has been here ever since.

Across three decades, she has worked in pediatric hospitals, family medicine residency programs, court-related family services, and private practice. She has trained medical residents, supervised graduate students, and evaluated children referred by schools and courts.

In 2009 she founded McCain Psychological Services, LLC, the practice she runs today inside the larger group at Child & Adult Psychological Services.

A psychologist — and a parent.

Dr. McCain is also the mother of three. She has lived through toddlerhood, elementary-school worries, the teenage years, and launching adult children into the world. That experience does not replace clinical training — it complements it. When parents describe what they're up against, she has both the clinical framework and the perspective of a parent to truly understand.
