Office Policies

A few important policies to know before your first visit.

By Appointment Only

The practice operates by appointment. Please call or send a message to schedule — we'll find a time that works and confirm what to bring.

Cancellation Policy

We ask for at least 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel. Missed appointments and late cancellations are billed at the full session rate, since insurance does not cover them.

Confidentiality

Sessions are confidential, with the legal exceptions every Louisiana psychologist is required to follow. Dr. McCain will review these with you at your first visit.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

How long is a typical therapy session?

Most therapy sessions are 45 to 50 minutes. The first appointment may run longer to allow time for a thorough intake.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?

Evaluations are typically scheduled across multiple visits — an initial intake, one or more testing sessions, and a feedback appointment to walk through results. The full process usually takes a few weeks from start to written report.

What ages do you work with?

Dr. McCain works with children and adolescents — from young children referred by pediatricians or schools, through the teenage years — along with the parents and families supporting them.

How do I know if therapy or evaluation is the right fit?

Many families aren't sure when they first call — and that's okay. A short phone conversation usually clarifies whether you need therapy, an evaluation, both, or a referral elsewhere. We'll point you in the right direction either way.

Are sessions in person or via telehealth?

Most appointments are held in person at the Siegen Lane office. Telehealth may be available depending on the type of service and clinical fit — we can discuss when you call.

How do I get started?

The fastest way is to call (225) 767-3121 or send a message through the contact form. The office will respond to schedule your first appointment.
